Welcome to the JACL Japan Chapter Website!

We are a a Tokyo-based non-profit organization that invites Japanese Americans, Japanese nationals, and people of all nationalities to join us in our frequent social events. Our Chapter's unique goals within the JACL's overall objectives are to foster a better understanding of Japanese-Americans living in Japan, to provide a strong bridge of communication between the United States and Japan, to increase understanding of the multiplicity of experiences of the various Nikkei communities throughout the world, and to provide a forum for the various Nikkei groups in Japan to share knowledge, support networks, and friendships.

The JACL Japan Chapter membership is over 60 and has been serving the interests of American Nikkeis in Japan (mostly in Tokyo and its neighboring prefectures.) for over 20 years.

The JACL in the United States was founded in 1929 to fight discrimination against Nikkeis or Japanese Americans. It is the largest and one of the oldest Asian American organizations in the United States. The JACL has over 24,500 members in 112 chapters located in 25 states, Washington D.C., and Japan. Our headquarters is in San Francisco, California.
